Tea is one of the most popular drinks in the world. Tea has been used in Chinese medicine for nearly 3000 years as a treatment for headaches, colds, asthma, and some respiratory diseases.

Real tea is produced in its various types from the leaves of the Camellia Sinensis plant, which is the same plant used in the preparation of black tea, green tea, white tea, and oolong tea. The natural flavor of dried tea leaves is determined by the cultivated type of the tea tree, the quality of the tea leaves cut, and the way of preparing and drying the tea. The difference lies in how to treat real tea leaves and the degrees of oxidation they are subjected to.

Among the most important components of tea and their health benefits:

Tea contains three stimulant compounds such as caffeine, theobromine, and theophylline. It also contains effective antioxidants such as polyphenols, amino acids (theanine), and catechins that enhance the immune system and prevent chronic diseases, in addition to several other elements such as carbohydrates, chlorophyll, fluoride, vitamins, minerals, and others.

The most important types of tea and their health benefits:

Black tea – it is one of the most popular teas, its leaves are completely oxidized and have a strong flavor, contains a good amount of antioxidants, and is rich in caffeine which promotes concentration and alertness, eliminates bad breath, supports heart health, and reduces harmful cholesterol blood pressure.

Green tea – one of the most desirable flavors of tea, leaves are less oxidized than black tea, rich in antioxidants, and contains caffeine in a small percentage, creates a feeling of satiety, supports bone and mouth health, and the high content of catechin is effective in fighting cancer, and prevents the signs aging.

 White tea – less treatment than other types of tea, which gives it a very delicate and naturally sweet flavor, contains very little caffeine, stimulates the fat burning rate and prevents the formation of new fat cells, is rich in polyphenols and catechins, which are antioxidants and are effective in cell renewal and repair, and protects the skin from harmful free radicals and wrinkles.

Oolong Tea – are partially oxidized, giving it properties between green tea and black tea. Oolong tea promotes metabolism, a mixture of Cachexin antioxidants and caffeine stimulate the rate of burning fat in the body, reduces blood sugar, and supports brain functions.

Despite all the scientifically proven studies of the benefits of healthy tea, there is still a lot to discover, and most have recommended drinking at least three to five cups of tea per day to enhance the health of the body and prevent cancer, obesity, and dehydration, provided that sugar is not added as this negates its benefits.
